Rome, could it be the next stop?
The cosmopolitan capital of Italy has nearly 3,000 years of culture. The Centro Storico (Historic Center) was known in the middle ages as the Campus Martius, Latin for the "Field of Mars" with the Pantheon, as its landmark. This spans Rome, including the Colosseum, the Forum, the Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, and Trastevere circles Vatican, and is where travellers will find the authentic Rome they are looking for.
Although it's located right in the middle of Centro Storico and only a few minutes on foot from the iconic Colosseum, Monti is a peaceful neighborhood that allows travelers to enjoy the genuine Italian atmosphere away from tourist traps. It was once a dense district where the poorest citizens lived and are now one of the most popular spots among locals and tourists seeking great restaurants, cafés, and bars.
A great way to discover the city is to take a walk to the Vatican from the charming Via delle Coppelle, down Via dei Coronari across the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge and finally along the grand Via della Conciliazione, or beside the river Tiber to the Trastevere neighbourhood, which is perfect for exploring from early evening till dusk.
