Between Naples, with its ancient Greek and Roman history, the picturesque Amalfi Coast, and Pompeii, the preserved city from 79 AD, there should be enough to please even the most well-travelled tourists. Although dotted amongst the shimmering Mediterranean Sea are a few islands, from Capri, that has attracted the glitterati for generations, to Sicily, the birthplace of Gelato, where visitors are sure to experience the sweet life, la dolce vita!

Roman Emperors holidayed in Capri, and La Piazzetta is a great place to soak up the affluent atmosphere. The Blue Grotto, Arco Naturale, Certosa di San Giacomo, and Via Krupp are just some of the other great places in Capri, while across the Gulf of Naples is the volcanic island of Ischia, famous for its hot springs, and thermal spas. Visitors should see the ancient Aragonese Castle that was built in 474 BC atop a rocky islet and is accessed by a causeway. 

Sicily and Sardinia are the first and second largest islands in the Mediterranean, while the neighbouring island of Pantelleria is a little gem. Sicily is home to several UNESCO sites, most notably the archaeological site of Valle dei Templi, while Sardinia offers over 100 beaches.

The country of Malta has a unique history and culture shaped by its many inhabitants including, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, French, and British before reaching independence in 1964. Despite its capital Valletta, being smallest in the European Union, there is so much to see and do in Malta!
